Offered for sale by the California Auto Museum. This vehicle is a rare example of a 1961 Chevrolet Nova SS Convertible. Chevrolet manufactured convertible Novas in 1962 and 1963, but this vehicle is equipped with the Super Sport trim package, which was only available for the 1963 model year. This particular example was sold by Good Chevrolet in Alameda, California to Mr. John S. Snow of Sacramento, CA and was delivered on December 17, 1962. The car was subsequently owned by two other Sacramento area residents, prior to it being purchased by the current owner, also located in Sacramento, in October 1982. It has been garaged for the past 39 years. This car has all original Super Sport trim apart from the sun visors, front seat belts, convertible latches and inserts, convertible top boot, convertible top cover, trunk mat, spare tire cover, and quartz clock movement, which were replaced with NOS or identical parts. The car was professionally repainted in the correct Chevrolet Ermine White paint (Ditzler brand) in 1983. The engine is a 250 cubic inch Chevrolet motor that was professionally rebuilt in 2007 and has been driven approximately 12,000 miles since that time. The "194 Hi-Thrift" sticker on the valve cover is correct for this vehicle, as well as other reproduced GM stickers on the air cleaner and on other areas of the engine compartment and trunk.
